Costa Blanca Holidays

The Costa Blanca or White Coast is the coastal area of the Alicante region named after is white sandy beaches. It is one area that is a firm favourite for British holiday makers. The transformation of the area from small fishing villages to mass tourism has had a major impact on the area, but it is still possible to see the real spain while enjoing the facilities that the tourism provides.

The capital of the region is Alicante, which is the main airport. While most people go straight to their resorts, they do miss out on seeing the city. Alicante is a historic town with elegant wide roads and has a good seafront. The port is lively and there are a number of pleasure boats there. During the year there are anumber of festivals, but one to look out for is in July the Hogueres fiesta which culminates in a procession and fireworks.

Benidorm is the main local resort and indeed is still one of the most popular holiday resorts in Europe. As you can see from the photo it has a large selection of tall hotels next to a fantastic sandy beach. The streets are full of shops restaurants and bars giving it a vibrant atmosphere. The old town still has its authentic fishing village roots and you can still find small tapas bars where the locals drink sherry and eat the delicious fresh locally caught sea food. Although there is a vibrant night life for the 18-30s, Benidorm is still a family resort and Spain in general is very child friendly.

Albir is near to Benidorm and is another small town that has become a holiday resort. While not on the scale of Benidorm, there are a number of hotels and apartments to rent. It has a large water park called Aqualandia which has a number of exciting water slides.

Altea is another small resort on the Costa Blanca. It has a notable church and has a high mountain behind it from which there is a glorious view of the whole coast.

Calpe is another resort on the Costa Blanca that has an incredible rock that overlooks it called Penon de lfach. It looks as is if it is an asteroid that has landed from Space.

Other resorts in the area include Javea and Moraira, both of which are popular for villa holidays.

The whole Costa Blanca area has become a magnet for visitors and there are a large number of holiday villas with pools available for the ultimate relaxing holiday.
